Community Assets Conference - Bristol21/05/2008 - 21/05/20089:30am until 2:00pm Venue: Withywood Centre, Queens Road, Bristol, BS13 8QA This conference is being delivered by Bristol City Council, in association with the Ethical Property Foundation, Social Enterprise Works, Black Development Agency and Voscur. It will be opened and chaired by Cllr Helen Holland, Leader of Bristol City Council, who will speak on the Council’s position on the Quirk agenda and Bristol’s support for community organisations. This event is an opportunity to hear directly from the author of the Quirk Review, the Government's report on Community Management and Ownership of Assets. Barry Quirk CBE, the author of the independent review will deliver the keynote address: "Community Enterprise, Social Enterprise and Civic Enterprise - the conditions for successful places". There also will be a choice of workshops, presentations and a panel discussion. The Council will be launching a new grants scheme to support the VISIBLE quality mark programme for community buildings & facilities at the conference. Who should attend? All community organisations in Bristol are welcome to attend this conference which will look at how community assets can be used to empower communities and create lasting change in local neighbourhoods. How much will it cost? This is a free event, including a hot lunch. Places are strictly limited and pre-booking is essential. How can I book my place?
