Child Protection Training (Newton Abbot)11/12/2010 - 11/12/2010Saturday 11th December 2010, 9.00am to 5.00pm - Teignbridge District Scout HQ, Wolborough Street, Newton Abbot Do you need to book yourself or your volunteers onto an informative and well presented Child Protection Training? Voluntary Youth Service (Devon) are able to offer a course on a strictly first come first served basis and the cost is only £10 per person. These courses are open to anyone working with children and young people in the voluntary sector - paid or unpaid. The course looks at: • What child abuse is • How to spot potential signs of abuse • How to respond if a child confides in you • Steps that can be taken to safeguard their welfare. Aims of Training: The course aims to define child protection, looks at signs of abuse and neglect and provide information on reporting strategies. The course will help you recognise and know what to do if you believe a child is at risk. Objectives: At the end of the training participants will: • Have an understanding of the legal requirements of child protection policies and how it affects their organisation. • Know what to do if you believe a child is at risk. • Know who to approach. • Know how to report concerns and understand your role. • Understand how to make your working environment safe for children and young people. This is a Level 2 training course that is normally delivered over two days, but has been slightly refined so that it can be delivered as a one day training event.
