Liberating Leadership - Training (Exeter)

20/09/2010  - 21/09/2010

Monday 20th & Tuesday 21st September 2010 - University of Exeter, Exeter

* Liberate Leadership, stimulate community, accelerate change.

The idea of leadership is rarely trusted in the community sector – it lets many down, or is dismissed as an irrelevance. The Community Sector Coalition think it's time to challenge traditional thinking about leadership.

Liberating Leadership is an empowering and accessible new approach to leadership that will be a powerful resource for change in communities.

The practical three day programme will enable development workers to help groups recognise and grow their leadership role. It’s an ideal opportunity to network and expand your own skills.

What you will learn:

• Eight leadership principles for taking action and achieving social change
• Collective ownership of leadership through sharing roles
• Leadership as a learning journey
• How to build on your existing skills and experience

The two-day residential programme is designed for development workers in support provider organisations.

All participants should be committed to using their learning in their role, providing hands-on support to local groups.

Liberating Leadership is a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and experience in a new area. The training programme offers:

• FREE Toolkit – describing the four essential elements of the model, and including 30 practical participatory exercises to use with community groups
• Practical content – tools to explore the concepts of the model
• A focus on application – you will practice using some of the tools during the course, and explore how they can be used with groups
• Follow up support – dedicated web space with additional tools, resources and a discussion forum – plus optional ‘Putting it into Practice’ session
• Plenty of time for networking and peer learning

For more information on the programme and how to book, please contact Hazel Capper on 020 7336 9424 or info@communitysectorcoalition.org.uk – or go visit: www.communitysectorcoalition.org.uk.
